Production IAM & Security Architecture

Aegis

Zero-trust access. Sub-millisecond token verdicts.

A high-concurrency identity provider built in Go, PostgreSQL, and Redis to handle federated single sign-on, dynamic RBAC permission matrices, multi-factor authentication, and tamper-evident audit trails at sub-millisecond latencies.

Printed plate for Aegis: an inked slab fanning out through an IAM authorization routing graph into a grid of permission cells over a tick scale.

Zero-trust identity & federated SSO

Built on Go and Gin, Aegis implements standard RFC 6749 OAuth 2.0 grant types including Authorization Code with PKCE, Client Credentials, and Refresh Token rotation, alongside time-based one-time password (TOTP) multi-factor authentication.

User sessions feature sliding-window lifetimes backed by Redis cluster shards with instant pub/sub revocation propagation across all running gateway nodes.

Hierarchical RBAC & permission matrices

Rather than brittle flat roles, Aegis evaluates hierarchical policy trees across tenants, organizational units, and resource scopes. Permission checks execute in memory in under 0.2ms using bitwise privilege masks and precomputed role inheritance graphs.

Tenants can define fine-grained custom roles with granular action allowances (read, write, delete, delegate) enforced deterministically at the API gateway layer.

Deterministic token rate limiting & anti-abuse

Distributed token bucket algorithms implemented via atomic Redis Lua scripts enforce burst bounds and sustained rate limits per client identity and IP subnet, shielding upstream microservices from brute force and credential stuffing attacks.

Tamper-evident audit telemetry

Every authorization evaluation, role delegation, and authentication attempt is recorded to append-only partitioned PostgreSQL tables with cryptographic SHA-256 integrity chains, ensuring compliance with strict enterprise security audit requirements.
